The population SNACK serves is children affected by Autism Spectrum Disorders, as well as other similar developmental
and behavioral disorders. SNACK welcomes those with physical
disabilities, verbal and non-verbal language abilities, across all
socio-economic, race, and ethnic backgrounds.
SNACK programs, geared
toward children ages 3 -18 with special needs, promote interaction, and
because children are placed in small, rotating groups, their social
skills are enhanced. The ratio of student to staff is 2 :1. At SNACK, children learn to participate in purposeful play and
everyday childhood activities that don’t come as easily to them as they
do typical children. SNACK programs are designed and staffed to address
challenging behavioral issues, increase skill levels and promote
improved social interactions and peer relations.
SNACK also offers Private Swim lessons and a Family Sunday Swim Program. The Private Swim program offers one-on-one swim lessons to make certain each child's safety is insured and helps children with special needs develop confidence in the water by learning proper swimming strokes, floating and breathing techniques.
The Family Sunday Swim program is a recreation-oriented program which includes swimming and open gym free play time that enables the entire family - ASD children, parents and siblings - to participate in recreational activities together as a family.
