We believe that parents play a
crucial role in the education and development of their children,
and thus are expected to become a part of their child’s
intervention team. We have learned that full collaborative
participation in the education process by a child’s parent is the
single most important factor in each child’s success. Parent participation is more important than the
severity of the child’s special needs, more important than the
school the child attends, more important than anything else!
SNACK Parent Education Lecture Series provides parents with skills, strategies and techniques to improve their child’s communication, academic, social, home self-sufficiency and physical development skills, enabling the family to decrease undesirable behaviors by replacing them with more-adaptive and functional skills. Session are held during weekday evenings 6-8pm and childcare is available. Light
refreshments will be served. Our Parent Education Lecture Series is FREE for Enrolled Parents, with a $25 fee for childcare, if needed.
Our first 2008 session kicked off in March with guest speaker Dr. Vincent Carbone followed by Regina Skyer, Esq. of Skyer, Castro, Foley and Gersten, in April who provided an update on Special Education 2008. Previous speakers include David Kirby, author of Evidence of Harm and Dr. Cecilia McCarton of the McCarton Center.
