Intern Spotlight: Kaila
We've had the privilege of working with some amazing interns this summer, we'll be sad to see them go when they go back to school. This week we're highlighting Kaila!
What motivates you to wake up and go to work?
Kaila: What motivates me to wake up and go to work is knowing that I’m part of something bigger than myself. The staff at SNACK* is so willing and driven to provide opportunities for individuals with special needs that they inspire me to want to do the same. My passion for writing and designing, and the prospect of improving my skills through experience, also makes me look forward to working at SNACK*.
What do you do at our company?
Kaila: This summer, I was an intern who mainly wrote posts for SNACK*’s blog. However, I also enjoyed working on designing graphics, improving website function, and reviewing and editing documents.
What has been your favorite project so far?
Kaila: My favorite project I’ve worked on so far is the graphic inserts I made for the Cup of Joe coffee and mug packaging. I loved having the chance to take an idea and turn it into something tangible through my creativity and experimentation with visual aesthetics.
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
Kaila: Something that most people don’t know about me is that I play the cello. I started playing when I was 8 years old, and continued taking lessons until I was 18. In school, I participated in the orchestra, Nyssma program and Chamber ensemble, and served on the board of Tri-M music Honors Society among other things. Performing in concerts, specifically the two I did at Disney World, are such great memories that I will always treasure. I recently got a cello at home, and hope to continue playing and improving my abilities in the future.
